Emma Shin, LCSW, OSW-C

Emma Hyunsu Shin, LCSW, OSW-C, is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Oncology Social Worker with more than 15 years of clinical experience, including 7 years of specialized practice in outpatient oncology. At Atlanta Cancer Care, Emma provides comprehensive psychosocial assessments, individual short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and psychoeducational group programming to oncology patients and their families. She collaborates within a multidisciplinary team that includes oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, financial advocates, and dietitians to support coordinated, patient-centered care.

Emma is a skilled clinician and group facilitator with a deep commitment to bringing evidence-based programs and practices to her patients at Atlanta Cancer Care. An avid learner, she actively pursues continuing professional development through conferences, trainings, and professional organizations — and consistently applies what she learns directly to her clinical work. She introduced the Mind Over Matter psychoeducational program to Atlanta Cancer Care after encountering it through professional channels, and has since co-facilitated multiple sessions integrating cognitive and mind-body coping strategies for oncology patients. She also served as site coordinator for the Coping with Cancer pilot study — a DBT-based group intervention — and is a co-author on an abstract presented at the 2026 APOS Annual Conference.

Prior to joining Atlanta Cancer Care, Emma served as a counselor at the Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS) in Atlanta, providing individual and group therapy to culturally diverse adults and reviving a cancer support group for Korean-speaking women. Earlier in her career, she served as Social Services Director at Bi-Lingual International Assistant Services (now Monarch Immigrant Services) in St. Louis, Missouri, where she led a multicultural team of bilingual case managers serving elderly and disabled clients across multiple nationalities. Fluent in both English and Korean, Emma is deeply committed to providing culturally responsive, compassionate care to every patient she serves at Atlanta Cancer Care.
